What we do

Brave Hearts Ethiopia proudly supports children and young adults who had been Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC). BHE prides itself in knowing it provides a well-rounded care plan for each child and youth under its support. To ensure a bright future for those under our program we implement our services in a strategic manner from all aspects of life.

BHE is currently supporting 73 children and youth (42 of which female) through its holistic care and community support programs. BHE also supports 9 elders (7 of which female) as well as the children’s guardians and extended family members through nutrition and health support. 67 guardians receive monthly nutrition support so that they can provide 3 meals a day for the children in their care, the children's siblings and themselves.

Additionally, 54 children and youth have graduated from the Brave Hearts program after finalizing their education or skills training and becoming self-reliant and no longer in need of support. BHE’s first and second toilet projects directly impacted 40 and 180 community members respectively. BHE has directly impacted 262 and indirectly impacted 1,563 children, guardians and community members in its work since its establishment in 2014.

What Makes Us Different

Our Holistic Care Model specifically aims to reduce vulnerability in order to ensure that factors that place the child at risk are eliminated. Brave Hearts not only supports the child but also ensures the environment around the child is safe, healthy and sustainable to allow the child to blossom and excel.
